What are Some Typical Electrician Tools?

A good electrician requires a set of correct and proper tools to deal with electrical issues. There are specific tools for specific cases and there are a few general tools which can be used for most of the electrical work. An electrician carries the basic tools to all work places with him. If certain machines are required for critical cases, they are carried separately.

The electrician tools are basically divided into two categories, the basic tools and the power tools and testers. The basic tools include the hand tools used for most electrical services. This includes different sizes of screwdrivers, a hex key set and nut drivers. Electricians also carry a large variety of pliers which include diagonal cut pliers, channel lock pliers, long-nose pliers, needle-nose pliers, and side-cutting pliers.

As cutting appliances electricians use a tin cutter, wire strippers, a hacksaw frame and an electrician’s knife. Chisels and wrenches are also a part of an electrician’s tool set. A measuring device and general accessories like a hammer, chalk line, a flashlight and blades are also necessary for the electrician.

Electrical contractors make use of power tools and testers as they reduce effort and time required for a job immensely. Some modern machinery like different kinds of saws, power drills and cordless screwdrivers are a part of the electrician’s tool bag or they are carried in a tool pouch. Some experts even carry power testers and special circuit testers.

Of course the electrician does not carry all the tools all the time, but according to the job that is assigned to him. General hand tools and light weight instruments are generally with him at all times. Safety equipment occupies an important place in their bag, which includes gloves, glasses, flame defiant clothing and different types of shields.
